For those of you who have been coming in since our amazing refit and thinking "mmm, there is still something missing", you have probably been right. We have been looking for an artist who would like to display their work in the pub to sell and so I was thrilled when I met Sally Scaffardi from www.contemporarywallart.co.uk at the pamper evening last month. Sallys work is a combination of digital photography and art and is beautiful abstract floral images. Whats more, Full Moon customers can receive a whopping 15% off any artwork ordered simply by picking up a dicount code in the pub. Also the pictures displayed in the pub are on sale with a 20% cheaper than if purchase on line, and we have a range of blank cards available for the next time you are caught short of a card.

Well it is fair to say that the Scarecrow trail beat eveyones expectations in both entries and visitors. We had 32 official scarecrows on the route and had well over 150 groups doing the trail over the easter weekend. Last night saw one of the busiest nights in The Moon since New Year with the pub and garden packed with scarecrow enthusiasts all waiting for the grand result. At 7pm the winning scarecrow "Benjamin Bunny" was announced and the Greenfields of Manor drive walked away with the £50 voucher which was kindly donated by our friends at Southwell Garden Centre. And it goes without saying that plans for next easter are already underway!
For those of you following our duckling progress we had a slight set back last week when Julie unfortunatly gave up and knocked her nest down, scattering the eggs over night. We also had noticed a massive change in the girls since the boys had been taken away. The decision was swiftly made and the situation rectified and I am pleased to report that Pearce and Colin are now a permanent fixture. We are starting again with the ducklings and this time closely monitoring how many eggs are in the shed at one time. So, one step back and two waddles forward - watch this space!

Business Club and scarecrows |

As always, my life seems to swing from the sublime to the ridiculous at quite an alarming rate. After spending the afternoon visiting scarecrows ranging from "Easter Skydive" to a "Punk fairy", I spent the evening discusing the "Green shoots of recovery" with Southwell Business Club!
The scarecrows are all looking great and hopefully all 29 withstood the gales last night. The route is now ready to be collected from The Full Moon and the competition for the best scarecrow is quite fierce!
Last nights meeting of Southwell Business Club was the first with the new format and it was deemed a success by all who attended. The Business Club is here to be the voice of the district and also to offer a networking and advice group for local businesses. The next meeting is on the 5th May at 7.30pm. For more information visit www.southwellbusinessclub.co.uk.

First we'd like to remind you of our up and coming Vegetarian Night on the 9th and Indian Night on the 16th... The menu's for both are on the website, ready for your perusal...
Becks and the kids have been busy over the weekend creating our lovely scarecrow who presides over a bench just over the railway tracks... We would however like to state that we have something much more grand planned for the weekend itself and it is a work in progress.

Our lovely ducks have been giving us the run around over the past few days, starting with The Great "Eggscape" on mothering sunday when the three girls spent the day exploring the gardens of Morton. All this flighty behaviour seems to have now come to an end and Julie has finally got settled on a big nest of eggs. I suspect there are about 20 eggs where she is sat and she has been quite comfy now since monday morning. Of course, this now means that Pearce and Colins work is now done and they will be swiftly sent back to Ferry Farm this week!
Entries have started to come in for our first scarecrow trail which will be on display over Easter. Villagers from Morton and Fiskerton have been invited to create a scarecrow with an easter theme, with the winner bagging a £50 voucher from Southwell Gardine Centre. Visitors to the pub and Garden centre will get a map and score sheets to visit and vote on their favourite scarecrow and there will be a bar b q on easter monday to announce the winner.
We have lots of exciting events planned for summer, including a Butchers bar b q - full details will be announced in our next newsletter!

Duck advice desperatly needed! |

Unfortunatly our duck breeding scheme isn't quite going to plan and rather than our girls sitting on their brood of eggs, they are happier following the boys down the road through the village - not quite the maternal instincts we were hoping for! We are now looking for a broody hen or a small incubator to borrow to incubate our fertilised eggs. If any one has either of the above, please get in touch - there could well be a couple of pints in it!
Vegetarian evening and Indian evening are coming round again and we have tables left on both evenings. Menus will be finished by the weekend so keep an eye on our menu page.
For those of you who haven't made it in to the new Full Moon yet, we hope you like the great before and after shots on our home page! Of course, the real thing is always better than the photo so be sure to come down and try our new menu. Burgers and meat balls seem to be building a strong fan base and almost taking the lime light off our Moon pie! We always recommend that you give us a call before you plan on coming so we can reserve you a table.
