Today has been Plough Sunday and the last day of our beer festival and it has been fun all round. The sword and Morris dancers arrived and danced, entertained, ate and drank to thier hearts content. All seemed very merry ( even the morris dancer who got a little to close to the potato stove and set fire to his tassle!) and we look forward to seeing them all again. The beer festival has been great with plenty of professional beer drinkers and a few new ale drinkers.
So another fun weekend for all and as always plenty more in the pipe line!

The Christmas cheer came to Morton! |

We have had some fantastic evenings in the pub over xmas. Xmas eve was the traditional Morton carol concert which even got the land lord singing so it must have been good! (Some locals over indulged a little in the xmas spirit and xmas day drinkers were later than usual!) Good weather on Boxing day meant the pub was heaving with walkers and families enjoying the log fires and plenty of chip baguettes! All in all it has been a busy, slightly hectic but very merry Christmas and we would like to thank everyone for their custom.

Well 2008 has been a real whirlwind for us all at the Moon. We have had some great times over the past year, as well as facing some hard times. We are looking forward to 2009 and have some great events planned for February and March. The refit will be taking up the end of January but we will still be open up until the 18th and then for the weekends only until February. Check out our calendar for all the dates and the planned events.
Christmas Eve always sees the pub full of carol singers and then everybody reappears Christmas morning for pre dinner drinks. The Full Moon is truly magical at Christmas - not through sparkly lights and fancy decorations, but through the genuine friendships, love and community spirit which fills it.
By 3pm on Christmas day, we will be getting ready for our Christmas dinner and will be heading off to family for the evening. Evie and Joe will still be bouncing off the ceiling with excitement after spending the day with grandma!
So, from all of us at The Full Moon, thank you for all your custom, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Along with Christmas we are busy planning our New year Beer festival 10th-11th January. So far we have 10 local ales & are hoping for 15. There will be Hot porks cobs, roast potatoes & soup along with entertainment from Mick the sax on Saturday. Sunday 11th is Plough Sunday and the village and pub will be bursting with Morris Dancers. Its guaranteed atmosphere starting at about 1pm and finishing when the last morris dancer drops!
Our refit looks set to start on Monday 19th January & we are hoping to open in some form at the weekends. Please keep an eye on the Blog for progress and menus during January.
In February we will be celebrating our refit with a steak menu which includes a glass of house wine. We will also be hosting an evening with our butcher Darren Price who will let you in to the secret of why our steaks really are the best around.
We will celebrate Valentines on the 13th & 14th so there is no excuse not to take part in the art of romance! Menus will be written soon so keep an eye on our menu page.
Talking of romance we will be hosting a showing of GREASE on Feb 10th complete with a diner style supper after! FANCY DRESS ESSENTIAL! Tickets will be £12.50 and judging on the success of Mamma Mia, will sell out quick!
February also sees the launch of our Vegetarian evening which we will run on the first thursday of every month and will be £15 for 3 courses or £12 fo 2 courses. There will be a vegan option on every course and if successful we will hold this as a weekly special. Vegetarians are so often pushed onto the back burner in busy kitchens - but not any more! Menus will be posted on our calendar each month. We have also just launched our "Oon Pie" which is a vegetarian version of our "Moon Pie" and is packed with lentils and Pumpkins. Its is available on our take away and pub menu.
