Dear [NAME]

Well summer is hotting up and we are in the middle of a very busy wedding season. Not only do we hold weddings here in the Morton Room, but we can also frequently be found in marquees around the area! We love our wedding work and though it is desperatly hard work with the show grinding to a halt if we forget the most trivial of things, it does keep us all on our toes. Weddings in The Morton Room are very special and we work hard to create a relaxed and intimate, but organised wedding day for couples looking for a smaller venue. Our typical wedding caters for 30 guests, though this year we have a couple with just 4 guests for the ceremony, and then 40 in the garden for a party!

For those of you looking for a meal out this week, why not try out our vegetarian night this thursday. We have a new chef who promises some fantastic breads and desserts, and our vegetarian menu is a healthy and light option for eveyone. We also run our usual pub menu with great steaks, pies and fish and chips.

Our butchers bar b q on bank holiday sunday was a fantastic event, helped along with a great dose of early summer sun. Johns beef was fantastic and we still have his Lincoln Red on our menu. If you enjoy your steak it is well worth a trip to Fiskerton shop and putting your name down for a box of meat from his next beast. The band were great and entertained us with relaxed jazz and Pete from Gonalston Farm Shop supplied us with a selection of bangers. We are planning another couple of bar b q's s for the summer so watch this space.

This month has seen the launch of our breakfast menu which is available 10 - 2.30 Monday to Saturday and 9.30 - 11.30 Sunday. With great bacon and black pudding from Porters in Newark ,sausages from Gonalston and bread from Atherleys in Farnsfield, our Full Breakfast is proving to be a hit. For the month of June we are offering all newsletter subscribers two Full English Breakfasts for a tenner. Click here to find your exclusive subscriber voucher code.

Our charity event this month was a Boutique Club evening with designer shopping for ladies, raising money for new scanning equipment at Newark Hospital. Through ticket sales and a percentage of purchases, we made £220 for the appeal which is a great result. Thank you to The Boutique Club for coming along and making it a successful evening. The village has been full of fundraising this month with a group of villagers doing the caost to coast walk raising funds for Beaumond House. The group raised in excess of £10,000 which is a massive achievement for everyone involved - it must be down to all that fine inspiring ale you drink!

This year, we are putting our staff to the challenge by entering a relay team in The Robin Hood Half Marathon on 13th September, along with funding entry for 4 members of staff to push themselves and run the half marathon course. It will be  a great team event and we hope to raise as much money as possible for Beaumond House and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. It would be great if we could put together a customer team as well - if anyone is interested please let us know.

Finally of course, our duckling news. There are 2 stories, 1 happy and 1 sad! After weeks of waiting our 10 baby ducklings came into the world and they were all happy and healthy. Unfortunatly we had an incident with the daddy ducks when they were 10 days old and we did lose 4. The remaining ducklings have now all got homes and hopefully there will be a happy ever after for them! Will we have any more, who knows. The whole process was surprisingly stressful and quite distressing, however we have learnt a lot and Meryl, our mother duck is still very broody so never say never!

See you all soon

The Moon's gone Quackers!! (With pictures to prove it!)

DUCKLINGS!!

Now they are much more confident and out and about we were able to get some much better pictures for your perusal. They are poviding much hilarity already...

Today saw a rescue mission take place as they tried out the pond only to enjoy it so much they splashed all the water out... thus finding themselves unable to get out!

Having said that when Trevor and Becks arrived on the scene they did not seem overly concerned and just continued to paddle with a distinct look of "we knew these lot would rescue us eventually, so may as well enjoy the swimming"

Remember these beauties are up for sale at £15 for a pair, and are looking for lovely homes! As previously stated we are having to do this to prevent Moon domination by our stunning Indian Runner Crosses!
