Our next big team challenge!

Well the summer has been a whirlwind of weddings, rainy days and running.... yes I did say running. A group of staff, including Will and Becks, have signed up to run the Robin Hood half marathon on 13th September. The aim is to get fit and motivated, and to raise as much money as possible for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Beaumond House Hospice. These are both charities close to our hearts and carry out incredible and vital work.  We have made sponsorship easy - visit our just giving page www.justgiving.co.uk/TheMoonRunners, or drop  a donation into the collection bucket on the bar. We will be keeping our blog updated with our progress and lets hope The Moon pride can keep us going on the day!

We have of course been busy working as well as running (!)and have plenty of events lined up. On the 25th September, our fund raising continues with a Macmillan coffee morning. Starting at 10am there will be freshly ground coffee and home baked cakes. Why not use it as a chance to show off your inner Delia and bring along your own sweet creation to share on the day? To raise as much money as possible, we will also be running a raffle and auction - any donations will of course be much appreciated .

One issue which has always been important to us is to use British produce on our menus and to support independant producers. The majority of our  producers are local, not to jump on the band waggon, but because it is common sense. We have great relationships with suppliers we have used for years and we believe that being able to meet them face to face gives us a much better product and so a much better meal on your plate. To celebrate our continuing emphasis on British Food, we will be taking part in British Food Fortnight which starts on 19th September. We will be launching our suppliers board in the pub and will start selling our own chutneys, breads and biscuits. The highlight of our celebrations will be The Morton Mile Menu - a menu made up of produce sourced within a mile of Morton. Expect rabbit, crayfish and Lincoln Red Beef alongside some amazing vegetables. This will run on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th of October and will be £10 for 1 course, £13 for 2 course and £16 for 3 courses and booking is essential. If you live in, or within a mile of Morton, we need your help. Bring along any overspill from you vegetable patch or chicken run and we will swap good quality produce for vouchers to spend in the pub.

Due to the success of our breakfast offer with our last news letter, we thought we had better keep you enticed! We are offering newsletter subscibers a fab 2 for 1 on our 2 and 3 course set menu.Simply follow this link, print off the voucher and then call us on 01636 830251 to book your table. Bookings under our 2 for 1 offer will only be valid for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdys and will be subject to availability.

It is of course "give give give" here at The Moon, and we are also now offering a free newspaper of your choice with a Full English Breakfast on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout September. Simply call us the day before to book a table, tell us which paper you would like and we will have it ready for you alongside a steaming cup of coffee and a great fry up.

There is plenty more on the way and we are still finalising details for our Halloween Little Spooks party raising money for Fiskerton Friends pre school and of course lets not forget - Christmas is on the way!

If you are still looking for something to do over the bank holiday weekend, we have a great pie and pint night lined up for friday night at £10.50 for 1 course and £12.50 for 2 courses. We are open as always over the weekend and monday - why not come down a have a look at our new menu?

See you all soon

Will, Becks and the exhausted team at The Full Moon!
